Royal Icing Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 8 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 3/4 Cup Warm Water
  • 5 Tablespoons Meringue Powder (I use Sunnyside from Hobby Lobby)
  • 3 Teaspoons Clear Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Teaspoon Clear Almond Extract

DIRECTIONS

In mixing bowl combine warm water and meringue powder. Whisk for 1 minute until frothy bubbles appear on top of the liquid. Add vanilla and almond extract and whisk until combined.

Using your paddle attachment add in powdered sugar. Mix on low until well combined then turn mixer to high. Beat for 1 full minute. (If icing is too thick add in teaspoons of warm water slowly to get desired consistency. If too thin add in more powdered sugar.)

Cover icing immediately with plastic wrap, damp towel or place in an airtight container.
